Xena : The Warrior Princess

"Xena, a mighty warrior and healer. She has come to regret the harm she caused and, with her companion Gabrielle, now travels the countryside seeking adventure and fighting the forces of evil."

In ancient Greece, a time of mythical legends. Xena was a mighty female warrior, Xena once left her village and led a army of outlaws that terrorized the lands, and was a former enemy of the legendary hero Hercules. Xena began to regret what she had done and embarked on a quest for redemption. Joined by a young woman named Gabrille, Xena travels across the lands as she battles forces of evil, and would often do battle with her evil foes, the ruthless and charming Ares and Callisto, a warrior woman out to get her revenge on Xena for the death of her family and burning her village when she was a child. And Xena and Gabrille were on occasions joined by trusted friends wannabe warrior, Joxer and thief Autolycus. Seeking adventure and helping people, Xena's courage will change the world. Xena was raised as the daughter of Cyrene and Atrius, though the episode The Furies raised the possibility that Ares, god of war, might be Xena's biological father. She had two (half)-brothers: Toris, her elder brother,[8] and Lyceus, the youngest of the three. Xena mentioned to Iolaus she had a third brother, but there was no further elaboration on the character. Xena believed that her "father", Atrius, abandoned the family when Xena was young,[9] but later learned that Cyrene killed him to prevent him from murdering Xena. Xena had a normal early life. She was born and raised in Amphipolis, a fairly large village in Thrace. She had a boisterous relationship with her brothers, and helped her mother in the family tavern. Xena's first love was Petracles. They were engaged to be married, but Petracles left her to take up the life of a warlord. Once again abandoned by an important man in her life, Xena developed a bitterness toward men, and a distaste for close relationships in general.

Bruce Lee: The Legend of Fist

Bruce LeeBruce Lee (Lee Hsiao Lung), the son of a famous Chinese opera singer, born in San Fransisco in November 1940. He moved to Hong Kong when he became a child star in the growing Eastern film industry. The first film he made was The birth of Mankind and his last film which is uncompleted during the time of his death in 1973 was called Game of Death. He was a loner and always getting himself into fights, with this he looked towards Kung Fu as a way of disciplining himself. The famous Yip Men taught Bruce his basic skills, but it was not long before he was mastering the master. Yip Men was acknowledged to be one of the greatest authorities on the subject of Wing Chun a branch of the Chinese Martial Arts. Bruce mastered this before advancing to his own style of Jeet Kune Do. At the age of 19 Bruce left Hong Kong to study degree in philosophy at the University of Washington in America. It was that time that he took a waiter's job and began to teach some of his skills to students who would pay. Some of the Japanese schools in the Seattle area tried to force Bruce out, and there was many confrontations and duels fought for Bruce to remain. He met his wife Linda at the University he was studying. His Martial Arts school prosper and he soon graduated.

He gained some small roles in Hollywood films - Marlowe- etc, and some major stars were begging to be students of the Little Dragon. James Coburn, Steve McQueen and Lee Marvin to name but a few. He regularly gave displays at exhibitions, and it was during one of these exhibitions that he was spotted by a producer and signed up to do The Green Hornet series. The series was quite successful in the States - but was a huge hit in Hong Kong. He visited Hong Kong in 1968 and he was overwhelmed by the attention he received from the people he had left.

He once said on a radio program if the price was right he would do a movie for the Chinese audiences. He returned to the States and completed some episodes of Longstreet. He began writing his book on Jeet Kune Do at roughly the same time. Back in Hong Kong producers were desperate to sign Bruce for a Martial Arts film, and it was Raymond Chow the head of Golden Harvest who produced The Big Boss. The rest as they say is history. Lee is best remembered for his presentation of Chinese martial arts to the non-Chinese world. His films, especially the Hollywood-produced Enter the Dragon, elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, and sparked the first major surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West. The direction and tone of his films changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in Hong Kong, China, and the rest of the world. Lee became an iconic figure particularly to Chinese, as he portrayed Chinese national pride and Chinese nationalism in his movies. Many see Lee as a model blueprint for acquiring a strong and efficient body, as well as developing a mastery of martial arts and hand to hand combat skills.

Charmed: Rose McGowan as Paige

Rose McGowanRose McGowan, born in Florence, Italy on September 5, 1973. The daughter of an Irish artist and a French writer.

The McGowan family (including 6 children, with Rose, the second oldest) relocated to Oregon when Rose was ten years old. Five years later, Rose left the place and took off to live on her own, supporting herself with several jobs.

Living on her own also meant being forced to live on the streets, but she then got her act together and attended Art and beauty school. Rose headed to LA, where she had a chance encounter director Gregg Araki, outside of a gym. Araki cast Rose as lead in his film, The Doom Generation, despite the fact that the acting experience she could claim that point was a bit part in 1992's Encino Man. The Doom Generation was 1995 Sundance Film Festival entry, and although it received great reviews, it was enough to launch Rose's career.

In 1996, she was included cast along with Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox Arquette in the hit thriller, Scream, as well as the offensive Pauly Shore comedy Bio-Dome. In 1997, Rose appeared in another Araki film, Nowhere, and she starred in Lewis & Clark & George and the film short Seed.

It was in 1999 that Rose was given the chance to shine (albeit in a pretty dark movie), in her starring role as Courtney Shane in Jawbreaker, alongside Rebecca Gayheart. She then co-starred with Heather Graham in the low-budget flick Kiss and Tell, and starred as Jackie-O in the JFK assassination-based video for Marilyn Manson's "Coma White".

Speaking of the shock rocker himself, Marilyn Manson (a.k.a Brian Warner) has been romantically linked to Rose for the past couple of years, and their romance has been highly publicized. The two were engaged in February of 1999, after the singer proposed to Rose while in the bathtub together. She also cast in the Tv series Charmed as Paige (half-whitelighter and half witch) half sisters of Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano)..

Rose was last seen in Ready to Rumble, The Last Stop and Monkeybone. A former child model and presently a spokesmodel for the fashion line BeBe, Rose is presently working on her next film role, starring in Rat in the Can....

Lois and Clark: New Adventures of Superman DVD

Lois & Clark was based on Superman that was aired on ABC from September 12, 1993 to June 14, 1997, and starred Dean Cain as Superman/Clark Kent, Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane and John Shea as Lex Luthor. In his twenties somewhere Clark experience life as a pre-thirties pupil. Lois, as always, is by his side at the Daily Planet, adding the romantic side to his life. The series generally followed comic book writer John Byrne's 1986 revamping of the Superman mythos, with Clark Kent as the true personality, and Superman the secret identity. As the title suggests, it focused as much on the relationship between Clark Kent and Lois Lane as on the adventures of Clark's alter-ego. The relationship between Lois and Clark, is as always, a platonic but on the edge of mad love.

The series star airing last 1996 to 1999, that was premiered on March 20, 1996 and ran for 65 episodes (three and a half seasons). The story focuses on Jim Ellison, a U.S. Army Ranger that spent 18 months in the Peruvian jungle after his unit are killed. During that time, he developed hyperactive senses that came five years later, when he was a detective in Cascade PD's Major Crimes Department. When he goes to the hospital to see a doctor, he finds instead Blair Sandburg, an anthropologist from Rainier University who tells him that he's a Sentinel. In ancient tribes, Sentinels protected the village.

For Jim, Cascade is his village. Blair has been studying Sentinel mythology for years, but he never found before a true Sentinel (a person with all five senses enhanced). Blair helps Jim control his senses and joins Jim as police observer. To the surprise of many people, this unlikely partnership works and together they fight against crime in the streets of Cascade. Jim's hyperactive senses mean he can see beyond what others see, even in the dark, and with more detail; hear sounds that are farther than normal range or too low for anybody else; sense what nobody else can with taste, touch and smell, in short becoming a walking forensic lab. But Jim's powers have a drawback: if he concentrates too strongly in one sense, he could "zone out", a kind of catatonic state. Part of Blair's job is preventing the zone outs. The only person who knows Jim's secret, apart from Blair, is his captain and friend, Simon Banks, and in the last half season, so does Megan Connor.

From the moment that Gerard was chosen as the new Superboy that would replace John Haymes Newton that was fired he had a difficult job ahead of himself. Prior to his arrival as the new Boy of Steel, the show's Nielsen rating was number 48 and it was teetering on the edge of being cancelled. Soon thereafter, Gerard's writing talent and business savvy caught the attention of Viacom and he was made a contributing writer in his second season and producer in his third. Viacom also gave him a directing contract in his third and final season.

Episode written by Gerard, New York Post television critic, David Bianculli said, "Scripts have begun to stress character and plot above special effects using different gimmicks. In terms of the sensibilities of the series to date, the results are somewhat super. The series, as whole, like Star Trek: The Next Generation, is a first run syndicated series worth noting and enjoying." One episode written by Gerard, entitled Wish for Armageddon was the only episode that Viacom submitted for Emmy Award consideration. The Adventures of Superboy

Kal-El, the original Superboy

Superboy was just Superman as a youth and treated as a junior version of Superman. In his planet (Krypton), his name was Kal-El. He wore the Superman costume and his alter ego Clark Kent, wearing glasses that serve as a disguise for his human identity. The character originally was created without permission from Superman's original writer, Jerry Siegel, a fact which increased an already-growing unfriendly relationship between him and the publisher. The Adventures of Superboy was based on self-titled comic-book Superboy in 1949.
